What is a digital X-ray?
An X-ray uses a small, controlled dose of radiation to make a picture of bones, the chest and some soft tissues.
Our digital system shows the image on screen within seconds, so the radiographer can check it is clear before you leave the room.
Why doctors request it
- Suspected fractures, sprains and joint injuries
- Cough, chest infection or breathlessness
- Neck and back pain
- Sinus problems
- Kidney stones or abdominal pain (KUB X-ray)
- Checking healing after treatment
How to prepare
- Most X-rays need no preparation.
- Bring your doctor's request slip and any previous X-rays or reports.
- Remove jewellery and anything metal from the area being X-rayed. You may be asked to change into a gown.
- If you are pregnant or might be, tell the staff before your X-ray.

What happens during the visit
The radiographer positions you against the X-ray stand or on the table and asks you to keep still. For a chest X-ray you will be asked to breathe in and hold your breath for a moment.
Each exposure takes a fraction of a second. Many requests need two views, for example front and side.
Common questions
Do I need an appointment?
No. Walk in during opening hours. For contrast studies such as barium or IVP tests, message us on WhatsApp first so we can tell you how to prepare.
Is the radiation dose safe?
The dose from a single X-ray is small. The radiographer uses the lowest dose that gives a clear picture and only images the area your doctor asked for.
Can someone come with me?
Yes. A family member can come with you to the clinic and wait while your X-ray is taken.
How do I get my images and report?
Collect your written report from the front desk, with your images on X-ray film or as a paper print.
